Under the crashing waves of gas shortages, millions of unfilled jobs, and the constant rain of bombs over Israel, the media and the Democrats seem to have hit the snooze button on the unabated surge of unaccompanied minor immigrants across our southern border states. There are currently over 22,000 unaccompanied children now in the custody of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. These children are alone and afraid.
Using the “if you don’t talk about it, it will just go away” mentality in no way diminishes the bone chilling story that came out of the Rio Grande Valley on Mother’s Day. An onion farmer near Eagle Pass, Texas discovered five minor girls on his property, dehydrated, crying, and baking in the 103-degree temperature. Their age range of 11 months to 7 years makes this story unbelievable and begs where the outrage and cries for justice from the mainstream media have been.
Despite the fact that the White House continues, via comedic Press Secretary Jen Psaki, to claim the border is “closed” and the border situation is “under control,” the mayor of Del Rio, TX would beg to differ. “We have seen a 392% increase in this fiscal year alone,” said Mayor Bruno Lozano (D). Lozano stated there were 19,724 border patrol encounters at this point last year and this year so far there have been 97,398. “I simply don’t understand how that’s under control,” Lozano said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris has no plans to visit the border to see firsthand how the situation is unfolding. She claims her job is focused on diplomacy in Latin America rather than policy at the border. Another ostrich approach to crisis management.
There were early reports of children disappearing on route or falling from the tops of moving trains. Those arriving safely to the U.S. border, have faced risk of Covid-19 exposure in overcrowded facilities. And if that’s not enough, once released, they will be vulnerable to human trafficking.
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is concerned about these children falling into the hands of traffickers. "They are sending children into this country having no idea where they are going to end up," Patrick said. “The President of the United States should be ashamed of himself for putting children in harm's way."
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy blamed the Biden administration for driving an increase in migrants by actions that include halting border wall construction and supporting legislation that would provide a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented people. In spite of efforts by Biden’s administration to pin this surge on failed Trump policies, journalists at the border claim that even young children know the name of the current U.S. president and droves of migrants don T-shirts saying, “BIDEN: Please let us in.”
Border officials project that the end of May will culminate in a surge far greater than the one we have seen thus far. And temperatures will continue to increase making the risks exponentially greater.
Biden has increased the cap on refugee admissions for the year by 400%, so there are ever increasing provisions for those who need asylum. No longer can we call this a “situation” at the border? This is indeed a crisis. Just ask the five little girls who were left by smugglers to die in the desert.
What can you do? Contact your state’s senators and congressmen/women to urge them to push for the immigration laws and border policies to be in the best interest of Americans while ensuring the safety and humanitarian concern of those trying to cross the border.
